O pianista apresenta um trabalho em homenagem ao histórico grupo Zimbo Trio, do qual foi fundador, e à “nata” da MPB. O Zimbo Trio nasceu nos anos 1960, no auge da Bossa Nova, e gravou mais de 50 discos fazendo música instrumental brasileira, sozinhos ou com a participação de cantoras como Elis Regina e Elizeth Cardoso. “Tributo ao Zimbo Trio” relembra músicas emblemáticas, como o primeiro arranjo do Zimbo feito para “Garota de Ipanema”, além de trazer uma homenagem personalizada em “pot-pourri” para Milton Nascimento e sua revolução harmônica. A intenção principal de Amilton é enaltecer a obra do Zimbo Trio, por meio da regravação de algumas de suas melhores músicas. Ao seu lado, o baterista Edu Ribeiro e o contrabaixista Sidiel Viei.
The pianist presents the work in honor of the historic group Zimbo Trio, of which he was founder, and to the “cream of the crop” of MPB. The Zimbo Trio had its o rigins in the 1960s, at the highest point of Bossa Nova, and recorded more than 50 albuns making music in the Brazilian instrumental style, the trio by themselves or with the participation of singers like Elis Regina and Elizeth Cardoso. “Tribut to Zimbo Trio” recalls emblematic songs, such as Zimbo’s first arrangement made for “Garota de Ipanema”, bringing, in addition, a personalized tribute for Milton Nascimento and his harmonic revolution as a “potpourri”. Amilton’s main intention is to highlight the work of Zimbo Trio, by re-recording some of his best songs. Drummer Edu Ribeiro and double bass player Sidiel Vieia will be playing alongside him.
