Vencedora do Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition 2012, estudou no Conservatório Alejandro García Caturla na Escuela Nacional de Artes e no Instituto Superior de Artes de Havana. Em 2002 venceu o concurso Jo-Jazz (Cuba). Foi convidada, em 2013, para participar dos 185 anos da Bösendorfer no Musikverein Wien. Em 2014 tornou-se “Artista Bösendorfer” e lançou o álbum “Introducing”. Em 2016 realizou o projeto “Danzón Cubano” com a Orquestra WDR Funkhaus e apresentou-se no Rheingau Musik Festival com a “Orquestra Europeia Cubana”. Em 2017, tocou com a “Filmorchester Babelsberg” no Nikolaisaal em Potsdam, lançou o álbum “Duets” e apresentou-se no Montreux Jazz Festival, no Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club em Londres e com a WDR Radio Orchestra na Philharmonie Köln. Em 2018 realizou concertos em Cuba, no Haiti, Itália e apresentou-se no Festival “Woman in Jazz” no Teatro La Fenice e na Filarmônica de Luxemburgo. Em 2019 tocou com a Orquestra Sinfônica de Nuremberg, a Filarmônica de Konstanz e lançou o álbum “Danzon Cubano – Live in Viersen” no Viersen International Jazz Festival. Seguiram-se apresentações em vários festivais na Europa, além de estrear nos EUA em Seattle, Boston, Filadélfia, Nova York e em Detroit. Em 2020 fez participações com Max Mutzke no Leverkusen Jazztag e no programa “Danzón Cubano”. Em 2021, seguiram-se concertos no Kissinger Sommer, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Kultursommer Nordhesse, no “Piano Festival“ em Ystad/Suécia e a estréia do seu concerto para piano “Danzón Cubano” com a Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. Em 2022, apresentou-se no Hitzacker Musikwoche, Mosel Musik Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Jazzbaltica, Festival Enter Enea, Festival de Jazz de Roma e com a Bergische Symphoniker, além do lançamento dos álbuns Mamos e Reload. Em 2023, estreou na Elbphilharmonie Hamburg com Max Mutzke, seguida de atuações na Lituânia, Bucareste e Duisburg.

One of the most acclaimed contemporary Brazilian instrumentalists, with many concerts in theaters and festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as Lincoln Center, in New York, Montreaux Jazz Academy, in Switzerland and Jazzahead in Bremen, Germany (2023), Amaro Freitas brings his solo concert to the opening night of Pianístico de Joinville. He was born in the outskirts of Recife, he learned music during his teenage years, in the evangelical church. He won a scholarship to study at the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música, as a student of Rafael Vernet. In 2016, Amaro Freitas released his debut album, “Sangue Negro”. In 2018, he was invited by singer Lenine to be part of the CD “Lenine em trânsito”, playing piano in the song “Lua candeia”. In the same year his album “Rasif” was released by the English label “Far Out Recordings”, which incorporates rhythms such as Frevo, Afrojazz, Maracatu, Coco and Baião. Still in 2018, he was part of “Brasil Music Exchange” – Música & Artes (BM & A). In 2020, he recorded with Milton Nascimento and Criolo the songs “Cais” e “Não existe amor em SP” and with Milton and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra a version of the song “Drão”. In 2021, his album “Sankofa” was released by the English label “Far Out Recordings”. His work incorporates to the Jazz language, sounds and references from Brazilian Popular Culture, in addition to rhythmic elements of African music.
