Nascido em 1977, Rembrandt Frerichs é um destacado pianista e compositor de jazz dos Países Baixos. Sua música é profundamente influenciada pela tradição do jazz americano, pela música clássica europeia, filosofia e pela música árabe – paixão que desenvolveu durante uma residência artística de dois anos no Egito. Frerichs formou-se pelo Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (Conservatório Real de Haia), e, logo aos 22 anos, estreou no prestigiado North Sea Jazz Festival. À frente de seus próprios conjuntos, como o Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, Chiaroscuro e Levantasy, já colaborou com músicos de peso, incluindo Michael Brecker, New Trombone Collective, Marnix Busstra, Michel Godard e Hermine Deurloo. Atualmente, leciona piano jazz no Conservatório de Tilburg e atua como professor convidado nos conservatórios de Amsterdã, Roterdã e Utrecht. É também o diretor artístico de diversos eventos culturais, como o Rabo Jazz Festival (Oud-Beijerland) e o Waterfront Jazz Club (Almere). No cenário fonográfico, seu álbum de estreia, “Self Portrait”, foi indicado ao Edison Award (o Oscar da música holandesa). Em 2014, o disco “A Long Story Short” também recebeu indicação ao prestigioso prêmio. Com uma discografia madura, o pianista soma hoje oito álbuns lançados. Para este concerto, Rembrandt Frerichs apresenta-se ao lado de Matheus Nicolaiewsky (contrabaixo) e Vinsent Planjer (bateria).

Born in 1977, Rembrandt Frerichs is a leading Dutch jazz pianist and composer. His music is deeply influenced by the American jazz tradition, European classical music, philosophy, and Arabic music — a passion he developed during a two-year artistic residency in Egypt. Frerichs graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, and made his debut at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival at just 22. Leading his own ensembles, such as the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, Chiaroscuro and Levantasy, he has collaborated with major musicians, including Michael Brecker, New Trombone Collective, Marnix Busstra, Michel Godard and Hermine Deurloo. He currently teaches jazz piano at the Tilburg Conservatory and serves as a guest lecturer at the conservatories of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. He is also the artistic director of several cultural events, such as the Rabo Jazz Festival (Oud-Beijerland) and the Waterfront Jazz Club (Almere). On record, his debut album, “Self Portrait,” was nominated for the Edison Award (the Oscar of Dutch music). In 2014, the album “A Long Story Short” also received an Edison Award nomination. With a mature discography, the pianist now has eight albums released. For this concert, Rembrandt Frerichs performs alongside Matheus Nicolaiewsky (double bass) and Vinsent Planjer (drums).
